Until Further Notice

So you guys may have noticed that I’ve put an older theme back up. It’s not that I didn’t like the previous theme, it’s just that I truly love my “Road To Home” theme. It will be up until the domain change. Speaking of that, I’m still debating on a domain name. I was so frustrated at one point that I even thought about keeping this one for the personal domain, but I quickly snapped back to reality after coming to the conclusion that my mind was creating excuses as to why I shouldn’t change. Change has always been so very difficult for me to do and I’m slowly working through things one step at a time. My website is one of the steps.

I was watching Disturbia yesterday and it conjured some questions within me. Do we ever pay close enough attention to our surroundings to notice oddities or other things that don’t seem to fit? Why is it that when we’re “confined” to certain places, do we notice things the most? I was thinking that if I had a murderer or anything of that nature living right next door to me, I probably wouldn’t really even know. I mean, I wouldn’t say we should go poking our noses into places they don’t belong, but we should definitely be more aware of what’s going on around us. Even with family, there’s always something we find out about a family member that’s ridiculously shocking and they’re within our own families. I’m a naturally curious person so sometimes I tend to notice a lot of oddities when I’m either out or just enjoying a day in the front of my home. These are things we should think about.

I know what you mean by change of domains. I am not to sure if I want to change my domain name when it expires in September. I don’t know i might just keep it so that my visitors know where to find me. But then again I might just change it so that it will be refreshed. I know what you mean by noticing oddities, after watching that movie it made me realize that your next-door neighbor is a stranger and you don’t really ever know them. They could be mass murders or child rapist and that thought is really scary.

This layout is clean and calm.. I feel comfortable browsing it..
And yeah.. I like ur website name.. but it’s nice to start something new.. with a new name.. I’m curious bout what’s it gonna be.
And yeah.. I’m a real gemini.. and I think helllaa much.. about anything.. and I’ve thought about this too.. I think it IS good to know more about your surroundings.. BUT I also think that we shouldn’t know too much or else the problems are taking over our life/mind/. For example.. it’s good to see the news.. to know what’s going on in the world. BUT .. f.e. my mother.. used to watch the news A LOT and she started to get worried a LOT.. And then I think.. sometimes it’s better to NOT know everything.. So you can live your life happier instead of worrying about problems that you can’t even solve anyway..

First off, I love this theme and always have :) I’m glad you have decided to stick with it! Also, I’m the same way about change, but it can also be so helpful in the end :) Maybe you should choose something that describes YOU.

Good point. Especially if you have children, you SHOULD pay more attention to your surroundings. In my old neighborhood, there was this really friendly man that lives a few houses down from me. He loved kids and always gave out candy. Everyone assumed it was fine, because he had a wife and 2 kids, until someone found him as a registered child sex offender on a website!

I understand how you feel. I was the same way, but the other site that I run is basically a resources site - download things, myspace stuff and all that. I still have it, slowly but showly updating and everything, but its still there. I thought long and hard about getting a domain because I could’ve just sub-domained it and I did, but I really didn’t like that, I wanted something that would sorta fit me you know. But good luck mama. It gave me a headache. But hopefully you won’t get any of those.

    Take care.

i like this theme. who cares if its old. it looks good! :) i’ve been trying to think of a new domain name too. it’s one of those hard things b/c you want something you will like and stick with. i think for the most part even with being aware, most people wouldn’t know if a murderer lived next door to them or not. i pay attention to my surroundings all the time but even then it’s impossible to be completely aware of everything.

Yeah, it’s good to be aware of your surroundings. But, there are things all the observation in the world can’t tell you. A lot of people are great at keeping secrets

I like this theme, it’s very simple & neat. :) Good luck on coming up with a domain name. I know the feeling. It took me a while to think of a name I liked for mine.

I love Disturbia! Yes, you’re right. Luckily, I know a little bit about both of my next door neighbors. But as far as a lot of the other ones, not sure. :/ I should probably pay more attention lol. We have security in our neighborhood so hopefully if we had someone like that they’d get caught. Kinda scary to think about actually.

. I like this theme. I was all excited when it came out lol…

I hear you about the curious thing. Every day walking through my neighbourhood i’d just stare at houses for whatever reasons those are.. I don’t even know who lives in some of the houses more llike they never come out or whatever.

I cannot agree more with you here. I am glad i am not the only one who feels the need of change. Change is a big the opposite for me..Im ALWAYS changing. Its like a weird obsession. I am addicted to brand new beginnings, and any chance I have at one-I take it. Especially when some life turning event happends or some burdden has been lifted from my sholders. I want everything to reflect my feelings. I think thats why i want a new domain. Plus, something a bit more adult oriented since I am getting OLD *cringes at the thought*. But, I am proud of you for YOUR change, whatever the reason may be. In the end you’ll be glad you did.

I have to agree with what most were saying, there’s nothing wrong with this layout — it’s nice and very simple, simple is the best way to go nowadays. And good luck with figuring out a new domain name, I know how hard that could be — the thesaurus sometimes help.

Disturbia is a good movie and helps a lot of folks open their eyes to certain things, I been like that though — I don’t get into my neighbor’s business but I do keep myself peeping through my blinds at everything, I have a big paranoid type problem. Well, take care!

Oh I really want to see it! My friend and I started watching it on holidays but she freaked out and we ended up watching Shrek. I know my neighbours pretty well though, so I’m guessing I’m safe.

The theme looks great too by the way..!

Wow, I never thought of that before, but you’re right. It’s kind of creepy in a way to imagine something like that.

I don’t trust people as it goes, lol so this will be something to think about.

Also wanted to say, I really love your blog. This layout is extremley beautiful!

You know, I can totally understand how you feel about change, especially through a website. Its easy to change something like a theme or some content. However, I had such a hard time giving up my first domain name as a blog. My first domain was Urban-Tease.net and I use that as a photo gallery now but I remember when It was time for a change and I was giving myself every excuse in the book on why I shouldn’t get a new domain. Ultimately personal growth won and now I am two domains away from the first one. change knows when it should occur. You just have to be willing to go with the flow.

Being a future mommy and just being a young female in an urban setting, I should know more about my surroundings. I live in one of the nicest neighborhoods in the Bronx, NY… but just two blocks down from me is a big drug block. I know when my son comes later this year I’ll be a lot more aware of everything and everybody.

I forgot all about my domain because I was sick and I didn’t even feel like messing with it.But I’m about to put it back up once I finish try to code my theme.

I haven’t seen Disturbia. But I don’t think some people are as aware of their surroundings because we looking out for ourselves more than anything and when we notice things, it just sort of pops up.

I like the newer layout more, to be honest, although the older layout is lovely too! :D
Please don’t see The Happening!! :(

I thought Disturbia was pretty good, albeit it a little implausible. I’m an incredibly unobservant person, but I think if I was put in house arrest, I would become more observant and peeking tom of my surroundings, just because I’d be so bored I’d have nothing else to do!

I’ve always loved this theme. It’s very well organized and it’s one of your best. =) It’s very difficult for me to adapt to changes as well.

I’m someone who pays close attention to my surroundings. That’s just how I am. I guess while growing up my mother taught me to do so especially when I’m out with friends. But yes, people need to pay special attention to their surroundings and notice oddities.

Shens last blog post..I’m too scared to drive

I think that when one is really busy during the day, they don’t have time to sit and notice things out of the ordinary like the boy in Disturbia. But I agree on being aware of our surroundings more.
